Poor Penny.
My mom works with this lady; we'll call her Penny, since I don't know her real name. Penny is divorced and has 3 sons. She has an excellent relationship with her ex-husband, for the boys' sake. Penny's son, "Ryan" met a girl named "Shannon" at school, who quickly announced that he got her pregnant. Penny was shocked and incredibly saddened by the news, however helped Ryan step up and prepare to be a father. Ryan and Shannon tried to make their relationship work, but Shannon was too much for Ryan and they broke up shortly after they had their baby girl. Their baby girl was born healthy, despite the fact that she was born at 35 weeks. Over the past 9 months Penny, her ex-husband and her three sons have grown to love this baby girl. Penny told my mom that the baby often comes over dirty and not well taken care of and they do everything they can to pay for and help this baby girl, even when she is with Shannon. Ryan soon heard some rumors about Shannon's track record with guys and gained suspicions about being the father. Last weekend, when Penny and Ryan had the baby girl over, they did a mouth swab and sent it away for a paternity test. The results came back with a 0% chance that Ryan is the father. The entire family was in tears and could not believe that their rights to this baby would be stripped away and baffled at the idea that someone would do this to their son and their family. Are they just supposed to forget the feelings they have for this precious 9 month old? Penny and her ex immediately went over to Shannon's father's house and after explaining the results, it came out that both he and Shannon already knew this. Again, Penny was baffled. She left and they headed over to Shannon's mother's house. The mother acted surprised, but then later made mention of Shannon going into labor at 39 weeks. Penny asked, "39 weeks, I thought she had the baby at 35 weeks?" This new put the date of conception before Ryan had even met Shannon. Baffled. Penny is working on taking her son's name off the birth certificate and is left seeking counsel on what to do about this grand-daughter she doesn't have.

This story makes me sick! Their poor family...today Ryan went to school and someone was sitting in his seat. He told the guy to get out of his seat and they went back and forth for a while. Then the kid in Ryan's seat said, "If I had a kid, at least I would know if it was mine". Ryan pushed him out of the seat, fighting with the other guy. I mean really, has this kid not gone through enough. Ryan turned toward the teacher expecting to be sent to the office, and the teacher just stood there. How can a kid like him be punished...he didn't ask for this!
Thank you for sharing this sad sad story. Hearts are breaking. I hope this baby is safe.
